EDUCATION

It is very important to us that each child receives proper education. With the lack of funding, maintaining all of the children's school fees is becoming increasingly difficult. Unfortunately, 45 of the 75 children are with out any school. These 45 children are not being given chance to become successful or productive adults. Many of them cannot read or write.

It is the goal of Save Them Young to find funding for the of hire two on-site teachers to educate the remaining children. The teachers salaries would cost Ghc300 monthly.

HEALTH CARE

Many of the children have health issues that are in dire need of attention. We are currently working on getting all of the children covered by The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) however the process is very slow and we cannot afford the card fees. The various illnesses include epilepsy, tonsillitis, conjunctivitis, allergies, umbilical hernias, and mental disabilities. The orphanage does not have the funds to pay for these medical needs. It is most important to us that we can treat  the children's health issues as soon as possible.

In addition to these needs, the children do not have a proper nutritious diet which creates a continuous cycle of health problems. Our goal is to feed the children a nutritious and balanced diet.

PAYING OUR HOUSE MOTHER’S SALARIES

Currently, our housemothers are underpaid, if at all. We are looking for sponsors to help us with their salaries. This ranges from GHC200-300 per month

DINING HALL

We currently have no dining hall. It is under construction but we are lacking tables and chairs for the 75 children to sit at. Table and chairs would make feeding easier and provide the children with a more suitable environment.

COMPUTER

Save Them Young Mission would greatly appreciate a used or new computer. This way, we can organize our children's files electronically, respond to emails in a timely fashion, organize bills and funding, type letters for appeals, and manage our newly built website.

CHICKENS AND SUPPLIES

Save Them Young recently built a chicken coop, however the chicks have not yet been donated. It is our goal to receive chickens in order to find a sustainable way to feed the children. With eggs from the chickens, we can make sure each child has the protein they need, and also we may be able to sell excess eggs for an income.

GARDEN SUPPLIES, SEEDS, CARE

One of our goals at Save Them Young is to have our very own garden. In this way we can provide fresh vegetables for the children with out relying on donation. We have started building the wall of the garden, but we are lacking supplies to continue. We are in need of seeds or preferably seedlings, fertilizer, healthy soil, and gardening tools.

Please click here to view a list of  BASIC NEEDS items that are always welcome for donation.

Children's Needs

BEDS

One of the goals of Save Them Young is to provide each child with a comfortable place to sleep. We are lacking the appropriate number of bunk beds and the children's quarters are infested with bedbugs and mites. We need sponsors to help us fumigate the rooms and to help us purchase metal bunk beds.

UTILITIES

Save Them Young struggles to pay for our utilities. Most immediately, we are in need of clearing our septic tanks which costs GHC600. Additionally we are always in need of sponsors to help us with water, gas, and electricity bills.
